Short Formal Reflection
This assignment, the "short formal reflection" paper, is one that I struggled with greatly. I was not entirely sure what exactly I wanted to write about at first because I did not know where I stood when it came to writing pedagogies. This surprised me, because I could never imagine that an assignment which called for expressing my view about writing would be so difficult. It seems like an easy task but prior to writing I found myself questioning what I believed to be true. That theme is apparent in the first few lines of this piece where I describe writing as a whirlwind of ideas; that is exactly what I was experiencing while writing this. I was so concerned with cramming everything I have learned in my senior year into one paper, which was not beneficial to my writing process. Though I did come out with a product that I was somewhat proud of, I still knew that I couldn't give the paper my all because there was so much more about composition that I had yet to know.
Looking back on this paper I see many things. I notice how much my writing has changed, my views about writing, and how much more I have learned about composition as a whole in such a small amount of time. The most surprising aspect of this assignment to me was that my views had actually changed. I thought there was no way that I would think differently but there are indeed aspects of this paper which I would love to change, add things too, and revise. Overall, it is interesting to see myself grown as a student through the annotations on this text; to be able to correct my own mistakes and show what I should have done instead. That aspect really opened my eyes to how far I have come from the beginning to the end of my senior year.
